CEAP has volunteer opportunities for individuals & groups of all ages. Below are some of our most needed volunteer positions. We're also willing to work with you to create a unique opportunity that both suits your needs and helps the organization.

FOR INDIVIDUALS:

CLOTHING CLOSET
Check shoppers’ IDs, enforce shopping guidelines, sort & hang clothing donations. Open Mon, Wed, Thurs & Fri from 9am – 11:30am & 1pm – 3:30pm
Average shift: 2.5-3 hours per week

FOOD SHELF
Pack food orders, stock shelves, rotate stock, sort, weigh, and organize food donations. Shifts available Monday-Friday, mornings or afternoons. Some lifting required. Average shift: 4 hours per week

DATA ENTRY
Assist staff with various data entry tasks. Previous data entry & computer experience preferred. Training Available. Average shift: 3-4 hours per week

MEALS ON WHEELS (MOW)
Deliver meals to homes of elderly and disabled adults in Brooklyn Center & Brooklyn Park, with your own vehicle. Children are welcome to accompany parents on meals routes. Meals are delivered Monday-Friday 11am – 12:30pm. Average shift: 1-1.5 hours per week or every other week

RECEPTIONIST
Greet & assist people accessing CEAP services, answer phones, schedule appointments, file folders. Average shift: 3-5 hours per week

MOW KITCHEN ASSISTANT
Pack cold and hot portions of lunches, pack drivers’ bags for delivery and place labels on meal bags for the next day. Shifts are available Monday-Friday, 9am – 12pm. Average shift: 3 hours per week

PICK-UP SERVICE
Pick up food donations from local stores & deliver to CEAP using your own vehicle. Some lifting required. Average shift: 1-2 hours per week

QUILTING GROUP
Join other quilters/sewers at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Center. To be a quilter, all you have to do is be able to tie a knot. The quilters meet from Sept-Nov and Jan-April on Monday from 9am – 12pm. Call Ruth Lunquist 763-561-3479.

PRODUCT DRIVES:

CORPORATE MOW DRIVERS
Teams of two deliver meals to the homes of elderly and adults with disabilities. You provide your own transportation. Meals are delivered Monday-Friday, 11am – 12:30pm. Average shift: 1-1.5 hours per week or every other week.
Available at: Brooklyn Center
BABY LAYETTE ITEMS
Collect new baby clothing, diapers, wipes and other newborn necessities. Layettes are distributed to local families, with infants ages 0 to 3 months, throughout the year. Drive Dates: On-Going.

FOOD SORTING
Sort and box incoming food donations. Some lifting required. For groups of up to 5 people.
Average shift: 2-4 hours per shift.

PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS
Collect new personal hygiene items for distribution through CEAP’s food shelves. Toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, feminine products, soap, cleaning products, etc.

SENIOR CHORE PROGRAM
Fall Raking and Spring Clean-Up for area senior citizens and disabled adult homeowners. Raking, window washing, etc. Average group is 3 to 4 people per home. Spring Clean-Up occurs late April to early May. Fall Raking starts in late October.
Average shift: 2-4 hours.

FOOD ITEMS
Collect non-perishable food items for use at all 3 CEAP food shelves. Boxed dinners, canned vegetables, canned fruits, canned meat, rice, dried beans, cereal, pasta, soup, pancake mix, instant potatoes, and more, are all needed.

BACK PACKS & SCHOOL SUPPLIES
CEAP distributes over 2,000 backpacks filled with supplies to local area children in grades K – 8e every year. Corporate and group donations are essential to the success of this Back to School program.
Drive Dates: July & early August. Completed by the first week in August.

HOLIDAY TOYS & FOOD
Collect new toys for local children ages 0 – 18, to be used at our annual Holiday Distribution. Through this program CEAP distributes gifts to nearly 2,000 children, and holiday food for over 700 families. All families are cleared through the United Way Clearing Bureau. Drive Dates: October - early December.
